Orb 1.3: a guided first run

Orb now welcomes you the first time you launch it — and makes setting up a container clearer along the way.

Orb now welcomes you the first time you launch it — and makes setting up a container clearer along the way.

New

  • First-run onboarding. A short, guided walkthrough the first time you open Orb: a quick check of your environment (Claude sign-in, container runtime, daemon, free disk), a look at your default Home profile, your summon shortcut, and an optional one-tap setup of your first container. You can replay it any time from Settings ▸ Advanced ▸ Show onboarding again.
  • Pick where a session runs. The profile chip in the “Ask Claude…” composer is now a dropdown — click it to choose Home or any of your containers from a list (the ↑/↓ keys still cycle through them).

Improved

  • Clearer snapshot status. A container you haven’t snapshotted yet now shows an Unsaved flag in the session header (with a highlighted Save Snapshot button) and a Needs snapshot marker in the Profiles list — so it’s obvious when a setup needs to be saved before new sessions can run in it.
  • Version at a glance. Settings now shows the version of Orb you’re running, right next to the update setting.
